Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of job characteristics on employee performance mediated by the level of happiness.

The population in this study were contract employees from the Department of Communication and Information of Batu City, amounting to 35 people. The number of samples is determined based on the total sampling with a total of 35 samples. Data were collected using a questionnaire, the results of the questionnaire were analyzed to determine the effect of each variable which was calculated using Partial Lesat Square (PLS) analysis.

The conclusion of this study is that job characteristics have a positive and significant effect on employee performance. Job characteristics have a positive and significant effect on happiness. Employee performance has a positive and significant effect on happiness. Happiness plays a role in mediating the effect of job characteristics on employee performance.
