Author Guidelines

The Journal of Integrated Transportation Engineering and Management (JITEM) invites scholars, researchers, academics, and practitioners to submit high-quality manuscripts that contribute to the development of transportation engineering and management. Authors are required to follow the guidelines below to ensure consistency, clarity, academic integrity, and proper presentation of manuscripts submitted to JITEM.


1. General Requirements

Manuscripts submitted to JITEM must be original works and must never have been previously published. Authors are responsible for ensuring that submitted manuscripts meet the journal's standards of academic integrity and originality.

All submitted manuscripts must pass the following screening requirements:

  • Similarity check: maximum 25%, using Turnitin or a similar tool.

  • AI Detection: maximum 25%, using QuillBot or a similar tool.

  • All citations and references must be authentic, digitally published, and verifiable through a direct link to the original source.

Authors should ensure that all information, citations, and references included in the manuscript can be properly verified from their original sources.


2. Manuscript Structure

The manuscript should follow the IMRAD-C format, consisting of:

  • Title (maximum 20 words)

  • Author(s) and Affiliation(s)

  • Corresponding Author and Email

  • Abstract (150–200 words, consisting of objectives, methods, and results)

  • Keywords (5 words, separated by commas)

  • 1. Introduction

  • 2. Methods

  • 3. Results

  • 4. Analysis and Discussion

  • 5. Conclusions

  • Conflict of Interest

  • Acknowledgements

  • References

The title must contain no more than 20 words. Author names should be accompanied by their respective affiliations, including the institution, city, province/state, and country. The corresponding author must be clearly identified together with an active email address.

The manuscript should generally follow the IMRAD-C structure: Introduction, Methods, Results, Analysis and Discussion, and Conclusion.


3. Formatting Guidelines

Manuscripts must be prepared according to the following formatting standards:

  • Font: Arial

  • Main text: 12 pt

  • Title: 14 pt, bold

  • Author names: 12 pt

  • Affiliations: 10 pt

  • Abstract: 10 pt

  • Keywords: 10 pt

  • References: 10 pt

  • Line spacing: single spacing

  • Paragraph spacing: 6 pt before and after

  • Top margin: 3 cm

  • Left margin: 2 cm

  • Right margin: 2 cm

  • Bottom margin: 2 cm

  • Text alignment: justified

  • Manuscript length: 15–20 pages

Headings should use Arial 12 pt, bold, and capital letters, while subheadings should use Arial 12 pt, bold. The entire manuscript should be consistently formatted using Arial font.


4. Abstract and Keywords

The abstract must contain 150–200 words and should present the essential elements of the research, particularly:

  • Research objectives

  • Research methods

  • Main results

The abstract must be written using Arial 10 pt.

Authors must provide 5 keywords, separated by commas. Keywords should be relevant to the title and abstract and must also be formatted using Arial 10 pt.


5. Tables, Figures, and Formulas

Tables, figures/images, and formulas must be presented clearly and consistently throughout the manuscript.

Tables

Authors must ensure that:

  • Tables are editable.

  • Tables may use a font size smaller than the main text when necessary.

  • Each table is numbered sequentially (e.g., Table 1, Table 2, Table 3).

  • The table title is presented clearly and centered.

  • Each table must be accompanied by a source citation/reference.

  • Numerical and alphanumeric data should be presented clearly and consistently.

Table contents may use a smaller font size where necessary to maintain readability.

Figures and Images

Figures and images must be sufficiently clear and readable, including:

  • Illustrations

  • Diagrams

  • Text contained within images

  • Labels and other visual information

The font used within figures must be sufficiently large to remain legible. Each figure/image must also be accompanied by a source citation/reference, where applicable.

Figures must be numbered sequentially (e.g., Figure 1, Figure 2, Figure 3) and their titles should be clearly presented and centered.

Formulas

Mathematical formulas must be created using a Word equation editor or an application with equivalent functionality. Each formula must be assigned a sequential number, as illustrated in the journal template.

Tables, figures, and formulas must be sequentially numbered and explicitly narrated or referred to in the manuscript.


6. Citation and References

All citations and references must follow the APA style. Authors are encouraged to use reference management software such as:

  • Mendeley

  • Zotero

  • EndNote

  • Other equivalent reference management systems

The reference list must be formatted according to the following requirements:

  • Minimum of 25 references

  • References should preferably include journal articles published within the last 5 years

  • Books should preferably have been published within the last 10 years

  • Regulations and legal documents are not subject to a year limitation

  • References must use Arial 10 pt

  • References must use single spacing

  • All references must be authentic, digitally published, and verifiable through direct links to the original sources.

Authors should ensure that citations appearing in the manuscript correspond accurately to entries in the reference list.


7. Ethical and Originality Requirements

Authors are responsible for ensuring that manuscripts submitted to JITEM are original and have not previously been published.

Before submission, authors must ensure that the manuscript:

  • Is an original scholarly work.

  • Has not been previously published.

  • Meets the maximum 25% similarity requirement.

  • Meets the maximum 25% AI Detection requirement.

  • Uses authentic and verifiable citations and references.

  • Provides direct links to the original sources of cited references.

The similarity and AI detection requirements are part of the manuscript screening criteria specified in the JITEM template.


8. Conflict of Interest

Authors must include a Conflict of Interest section in the manuscript.

If there are no conflicts of interest, authors may use a statement indicating that they declare no conflicts of interest regarding the publication of the manuscript. The JITEM template provides the following example:

"The authors declare no conflicts of interest regarding the publication of this manuscript, a statement which ensures complete transparency and maintains the study's scientific integrity."


9. Acknowledgements

An Acknowledgements section may be included to express gratitude to parties who have provided meaningful assistance in conducting the research.

Acknowledgements may be directed to parties who have provided substantive assistance, such as:

  • Providers of primary data

  • Providers of secondary data

  • Research funders

  • Other parties who have provided direct assistance to the research activity

Authors should only acknowledge parties who have genuinely contributed to the research.


10. Manuscript Submission

Authors should prepare their manuscripts according to the official JITEM manuscript template before submission.

The manuscript should contain all required sections and comply with the prescribed formatting, structural, originality, citation, and reference requirements.

Authors should carefully check the manuscript before submission to ensure that:

  • The manuscript is 15–20 pages long.

  • The manuscript follows the IMRAD-C structure.

  • The title contains no more than 20 words.

  • The abstract contains 150–200 words.

  • There are 5 keywords.

  • Similarity does not exceed 25%.

  • AI Detection does not exceed 25%.

  • At least 25 references are included.

  • Tables, figures, and formulas are numbered sequentially and referred to in the manuscript.

  • Citations and references follow APA style.

  • References are authentic and verifiable through direct links.


11. Additional Information

Authors are strongly encouraged to use the official JITEM template when preparing their manuscripts. Consistent adherence to the template will facilitate the editorial and publication process.
