Peer Review Process

All manuscripts submitted to the Journal of Integrated Transportation Engineering and Management (JITEM) are subject to an initial assessment by the editorial team. At this stage, submitted manuscripts are evaluated for their alignment with the journal’s scope, focus, and author guidelines. Manuscripts that do not meet these fundamental requirements may be declined or returned to the authors before being considered for external peer review.

Manuscripts that meet the initial editorial requirements and are considered relevant to the scope of JITEM proceed to the double-blind peer review process. Under this review system, the identities of both authors and reviewers are kept confidential to support an objective, fair, and impartial assessment of the submitted manuscript.

Following the peer reviewers’ evaluations and recommendations, the Editor may make one of the following decisions:

  1. Accepted

  2. Accepted with Minor Revisions

  3. Major Revisions Required

  4. Rejected

The Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Integrated Transportation Engineering and Management (JITEM) has the final authority regarding the publication decision of submitted manuscripts, taking into consideration the editorial assessment and peer reviewers’ recommendations.

Review Process Flow

1. Manuscript Submission
Authors submit their manuscripts through the journal’s online submission system in accordance with the requirements and guidelines established by JITEM.

2. Initial Editorial Evaluation
The editorial team conducts an initial assessment to determine whether the manuscript is appropriate for the journal’s scope and complies with the applicable author guidelines. Manuscripts that do not meet the basic requirements may be rejected or returned to the authors for correction before proceeding to peer review.

3. Double-Blind Peer Review
Manuscripts that pass the initial editorial assessment are evaluated by independent peer reviewers through a double-blind review process. The identities of both authors and reviewers are kept confidential during the review.

4. Editorial Decision
The Editor evaluates the reviewers’ comments and recommendations and determines the appropriate editorial decision: acceptance, minor revision, major revision, or rejection.

5. Notification to Authors
The editorial decision is communicated to the authors through the journal’s submission system. Where applicable, reviewers’ comments and recommendations are also provided to assist authors in revising and improving their manuscripts.
