Screening for Plagiarism

All manuscripts submitted to the Journal of Integrated Transportation Engineering and Management (JITEM) are subject to an originality screening process before proceeding to the peer-review stage. This screening is conducted to assess the originality, authenticity, and academic integrity of submitted manuscripts.

JITEM uses similarity detection tools such as Turnitin or equivalent tools to identify potential similarities between submitted manuscripts and existing published works, academic sources, and online content. The maximum acceptable similarity index for submitted manuscripts is 25%.

In addition, JITEM may use AI detection tools such as QuillBot or equivalent tools to support the assessment of potential AI-generated content. The maximum acceptable AI Detection level is 25%.

Manuscripts that exceed the applicable similarity or AI Detection thresholds, contain inappropriate or unacknowledged use of sources, or show indications of plagiarism may be returned to the authors for revision or rejected, depending on the severity of the issue. Authors are responsible for ensuring that all sources are properly cited and that submitted manuscripts are original works that have not been previously published.

This screening policy reflects JITEM's commitment to maintaining academic integrity, originality, and ethical publication practices, while ensuring the quality and credibility of research published in the field of transportation engineering and management.
