Authorship and Contributorship Criteria
JASEE (Journal of Application and Science on Electrical Engineering) strictly adheres to the guidelines established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) regarding authorship and contributorship.
1. Criteria for Authorship
To qualify as an author of a manuscript submitted to JASEE, all listed individuals must meet the following four criteria:
- Substantial Contributions: Substantial contributions to the conception, design, execution, data acquisition, or analysis and interpretation of the study.
- Drafting and Revision: Drafting the manuscript or revising it critically for important intellectual content.
- Final Approval: Final approval of the version to be published.
- Accountability: Agreement to be accountable for all aspects of the work in ensuring that questions related to the accuracy or integrity of any part of the work are appropriately investigated and resolved.
2. Non-Author Contributors and Acknowledgments
Individuals who contributed to the project but do not meet all four criteria for authorship (e.g., providing technical assistance, language editing, general supervision, or financial support) must not be listed as authors. Their contributions should be acknowledged in the Acknowledgments section of the manuscript, provided they have given written permission to be named.
3. Authorship Misconduct
JASEE strictly prohibits all forms of improper authorship attribution:
- Ghost Authorship: Omitting individuals who contributed substantially to the research or manuscript writing.
- Guest / Gift Authorship: Including individuals who have made no significant contribution to the work, regardless of their academic rank or administrative position.
4. Changes to Authorship
Any request to add, remove, or reorder author names must be submitted to the Managing Editor before the manuscript is accepted. The request must include:
- A detailed explanation and justification for the requested change.
- Written confirmation (via email or signed agreement form) from all authors (including those being added or removed) approving the change.
5. Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy in Authorship
In accordance with COPE guidance, Artificial Intelligence tools (such as ChatGPT, LLMs, or automated writing assistants) cannot be listed as an author. AI tools cannot take responsibility for the integrity or accuracy of submitted work. Authors who utilize AI tools in the research process or manuscript drafting must disclose their use transparently in the Methods or Acknowledgments section.
