Corrections, Expressions of Concern & Retractions Policy

Bulletin of Management and Business (BMB) is committed to maintaining the accuracy, reliability, transparency, and integrity of the scholarly record. The journal provides procedures for addressing significant errors and concerns identified after publication.

1. General Policy

BMB recognizes that errors and ethical concerns may be identified after publication. Authors, editors, reviewers, and readers are encouraged to report substantial inaccuracies or concerns affecting published research.

The journal evaluates such concerns fairly, objectively, and in accordance with recognized publication ethics standards. Editorial actions are intended to maintain the reliability of the scholarly record rather than penalize individuals.

2. Types of Post-Publication Editorial Actions

01
Correction
For errors that require amendment but do not invalidate the article's principal findings or conclusions.
02
Expression of Concern
For serious unresolved concerns about an article while additional assessment or investigation is needed.
03
Retraction
For unreliable findings arising from major errors, research misconduct, or other substantial integrity concerns.
04
Article Update
For minor non-substantive changes, with an appropriate record when transparency requires it.

3. Reporting Errors and Publication Concerns

Authors who discover significant errors in their published work must promptly notify the BMB Editorial Board and cooperate in correcting the scholarly record. Readers and other concerned parties may also report suspected errors or integrity concerns.

Reports should include the article title, authors, DOI or publication link, a description of the concern, and available supporting evidence.

4. Editorial Assessment Procedure

BMB applies the following procedure when assessing reported errors or concerns:

  1. Initial Assessment

The Editorial Board examines the nature, seriousness, and supporting evidence of the reported issue.

  2. Author Clarification

Relevant authors are invited to provide an explanation, supporting records, or corrections within a reasonable period.

  3. Further Examination

Where necessary, the journal may consult independent experts or refer possible research misconduct to the relevant institution.

  4. Editorial Decision

The responsible editor determines whether a correction, expression of concern, retraction, or no further editorial action is appropriate.

  5. Publication and Follow-up

Approved editorial notices are published and linked to the affected article, with relevant records maintained.

5. Correction Policy

A correction may be issued when an article contains errors in text, figures, tables, author information, or other relevant material that require amendment without undermining the reliability of its principal conclusions.

Corrections will identify the original article, describe the changes made, and be publicly accessible. Material amendments will be documented rather than silently introduced.

6. Retraction Policy

Retraction may be considered when published findings are unreliable due to major methodological or analytical errors, fabrication, falsification, plagiarism, unethical research, compromised peer review, or other serious publication integrity issues.

Retraction decisions are made by the responsible editor following an appropriate assessment. The notice will clearly identify the article and explain the grounds for retraction. The original article will normally remain accessible and clearly marked as retracted to preserve the scholarly record.

7. Expressions of Concern

An expression of concern may be issued when serious questions regarding an article's integrity remain unresolved or when an investigation is pending and readers should be informed.

The journal will review the notice when new evidence becomes available and determine whether it should be followed by a correction, retraction, or other appropriate action.

8. Transparency, Documentation and Record Integrity

Correction, expression of concern, and retraction notices will be freely accessible and clearly linked to the relevant article. Where technically feasible, related article metadata and indexing records will be updated.

BMB does not silently remove published articles as a routine response to errors or misconduct. Exceptional removal of content may be considered only where legal, privacy, or serious safety considerations require it.
