Plagiarism Policy & Similarity Screening
Bulletin of Management and Business (BMB)
1. General Policy
Bulletin of Management and Business (BMB) is committed to maintaining academic originality, research integrity, and ethical standards in scholarly publishing.
All submitted manuscripts must represent original scholarly work. Plagiarism, improper attribution, and the unauthorized reuse of previously published materials are strictly prohibited.
2. Plagiarism Screening
All submitted manuscripts are subject to originality and similarity screening using Turnitin.
Similarity reports are evaluated by the Editorial Board to identify potentially inappropriate textual overlap, unattributed quotations, improper paraphrasing, and other concerns regarding academic originality.
3. Similarity Threshold
BMB proposes a maximum similarity threshold of 20%, subject to formal approval by the Editorial Board.
The following screening procedures apply:
Similarity ≤20%: The manuscript meets the preliminary screening threshold and may proceed to editorial assessment.
Similarity >20%: The manuscript may be returned to the authors for clarification, correction, or revision.
Substantial Plagiarism: Manuscripts containing verified plagiarism may be rejected regardless of their overall similarity score.
Similarity scores are screening indicators and do not independently establish plagiarism. Editorial evaluation considers the context, nature, extent, and attribution of matched material.
4. Author Responsibilities
Authors must ensure that:
- The manuscript is original and has not been submitted simultaneously to another journal.
- All borrowed ideas, quotations, data, and research findings are properly cited.
- Paraphrased materials accurately acknowledge the original sources.
- Previously published work is not reused in a misleading manner.
- All authors comply with the journal's Publication Ethics.
5. Editorial Actions
When potential plagiarism is identified, BMB may request clarification, require manuscript revisions, or reject the submission based on documented editorial assessment.
For concerns identified after publication, the journal may issue corrections, retractions, or other appropriate editorial notices in accordance with publication ethics guidelines.
